Dancing on Bus

After a great days surfing all one can do is dance. The public bus is as good a place as any. The locals loved it; had a great laugh

Been a while

It has been a while. I had the last lecture this week. It has been hectic; catching up pretty much the whole semesters work in a couple of weeks. Too much traveling and adventures. The next week is off for study for the exams. I only have one exam in the second last day. Therefore I pretty much have three weeks to study for it; in reality it will most likely be the day before. Still catching up on all the papers I haven’t done yet. This next week I will be working all week with ECREA; need to get the hours up to pass the subject. At this stage I plan to go away next weekend. I think I shall be rafting with the students union’s money. Free trips are always great.
Anyway I hope everyone is doing well and look forward to sharing many stories with you all. Vinaka Justin.

A Fiji Birthday

The Birthday in Fiji

What a great day. It started very slowly not arising until around 11am (I think your birthday you should be able to sleep in and have a lazy day). After finally getting up I made my way to a friends house Robin for breakfast, which was just a little way down the road. This still took a while due to the fact that my eyes were still half closed. I may have even been sleep walking. I quickly awoke as I walked through the door because of the fantastic smell of bacon and eggs that smacked me in the face. All the international crew were there cooking up a storm. What a feast everyone ate till we could eat no more and then stuffed a little more in. After breakfast or should be lunch due the time being about 2 o’clock. I opened the cards and package that I had received. I was so good to get things from home but it did make me miss it a bit especially after donning the Western Bulldogs shirt (Thank you). To my great surprise the other Aussie Tim had got me a gift. Upon opening it, it revealed a Tanoa, which is a hand carved bowl that they drink Kava from. It had my name engraved in it and engraved on the bottom in Fijian was “Live your dreams” from Daz. This was something really special for me and made for an awesome day. We drank some kava out of the new Tanoa with myself being the chief serving everyone when we realized that the grand final had started; I quick taxi ride down to the Holiday Inn to watch it on the big screen. There was about 100 Aussies there all screaming and jumping around. Couldn’t ask for a better birthday doesn’t get much better watching the final on your birthday. After a very exciting game (doesn’t get any closer) and almost losing my voice we filled our stomachs again with 2 of the biggest pizzas I have ever seen. It was so good. To top it all of was a surprise cake. A birthday I will never forget, a truly great day. So thank you all for your emails, cards and packages it is very much appreciated.
